Ask questions about what was said, pull out key points, summarise a meeting. All of it happens locally ā no upload, no cloud processing, no third party handling your words. This is the first phase of a much broader voice and audio intelligence layer. Longer recordings, more languages, and richer transcription capability are on the way. The foundation is now there.
Image Support ā Ask Questions About What You See
Whisper AI now supports images. Take a photo or upload an image and ask the AI questions about it. Identify objects, extract text, analyse a document, describe a scene. On-device, on your terms.
Search and Download Models from Hugging Face
Whisper AI now integrates directly with Hugging Face ā the world's largest open-source AI model library. Search and download models directly within the app. Before you commit, Whisper AI tells you exactly how well each model will run on your device ā very well, okay, poorly, or not recommended. Filter by all models, text models, or vision models depending on what you need. No guesswork. No wasted downloads. Full control over which AI you're running.
Multi-Provider Support ā Your AI, Your Choice
Whisper AI now supports multiple AI providers in a single app. Connect Apple Intelligence for fully on-device processing. Add ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot via OAuth if you want frontier model capability. Set up Open Router or a custom API for full stack control. Then switch between them mid-conversation ā without leaving the app. Privacy exists on a spectrum. Some conversations you want fully local. Others you're happy to send to a cloud provider for more capability. Whisper AI gives you that choice, explicitly, every time. No assumptions made on your behalf. A Note on Device Compatibility
Some features ā including image support and Apple Intelligence ā require newer hardware to run. If you're on an older iPhone or Android device, you'll still get a fully capable private AI assistant, just without the features that need more recent silicon. We think it's important to be upfront about that rather than oversell what your device can do.
Under the Hood ā Nanotune Benchmarking
Internally, we've built Nanotune ā an open-source benchmarking tool developed through the Nano Collective ā to measure on-device model performance across every update we ship. It's not user-facing yet, but it's how we make sure every improvement to Whisper AI is verified against real performance data rather than assumed to be better. Rigour before release.
